ODM CONDEMNS CENSURE PLOT AGAINST MUTULA

M has condemned the planned censure motion against Justice Minister Mutula Kilonzo for his views on Kenyan politicians facing charges of crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The party, in a statement on Wednesday, said such a motion will be an abuse of Parliament's authority.

Party Secretary General Anyang' Nyong'o said the planned censure motion was meant to gag Mr Kilonzo from expressing opinions on matters within the docket of his Justice Ministry.

"Mr Kilonzo has been the target of the most malicious propaganda for some weeks now, which now has culminated in a planned censure motion. One cannot imagine a more blatant abuse of Parliament's authority over the Executive to achieve highly partisan, self-serving and vengeful goals," Mr Nyong'o said in the statement.

"These politicians have stooped very low indeed to target a Minister whose positions on the issues under discussion are among the most resonant with Kenyans today.

"I must appeal to reformers in the PNU coalition to restrain those of their colleagues who are behind this plot and other attempts to divide Kenyans," he added.

Minister Kilonzo has been insistent on the ineligibility of Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret MP William Ruto to vie for the presidency after ICC pre-trial chambers confirmed charges against the pair.

Roads assistant minister Lee Kinyanjui on Monday told the Nation that he and a group of “like-minded MPs”, were scheming how to kick the outspoken minister out of his docket.

Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto, through the G7 alliance, have also demanded Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka to have Justice Minister Mutula Kilonzo sacked, failure to which the VP will not be welcome to attend their joint rallies. (READ: VP in trouble over Mutula views on ICC)

   What will the MPs do to the citizens who are of the view similar to that of Hon. Kilonzo-withdraw their voting cards? The justice ministers opinion is the opinion of a wide cross section of the voters.

   One issue that will bury the PNU/URP/G7/KKK/PNU-Alliance/APK/KANU/... group like in avalanche in the coming elections is the now firmly established position that they are opposed, in principle, to the implementation of the new constitution. Anti-Reformers, Watermelons an the like will smell putrefying to voters.

   It would appear the Uhuru and Ruto wish to dictate the laws of Kenya even before getting to State House. Dictators we do not need or a puppet VP. Roll on ODM and Democracy.

   We r watching. We only wish we had we had more of Kilonzos. Wo/men who state facts as they are regardless of how 'convenient' they can sound. Let them censure you, Kilonzo, and we will censure them come Dec.
