Josiah Mwangi Kariuki… The leftist politician known as JM rose to fame for his closeness to the masses, especially peasant farmers.
He was the first MP for Nyandarua North and his popularity became a threat to the administration of President Kenyatta. He was assassinated in 1975.
Kabingu Muregi… the veteran politician and a one-time assistant minister for Livestock made his name after being elected deputy speaker.
Mr Muregi was MP for Nyandarua South from 1969-79 and the first MP for Kipipiri in 1988. He lost the seat in 1992 to the late Laban Muchemi.
Mungai wa Njuguna… a district education officer for Nyandarua in the 1980s and early 1990s is credited with an exemplary performance which saw the county lead other districts in KCPE.
President Moi made him a Senior District Education Officer and transferred him to Jogoo House, Nairobi.
Samuel Kamau Wanjiru… became a hero in Nyandarua after winning the 2008 Beijing, Olympic marathon. He died in May last year after falling from the balcony of his house in Muthaiga Estate in Nyahururu
Muriuki Karue… is remembered for having initiated the Constituency Development Fund. Mr Karue represented Ol Kalou for two consecutive terms before losing to Erastus Mureithi in 2007.
Francis Kimemia… the PS for Internal Security comes from Milang-ini near Dundori Trading Centre near Nakuru.Catherine Kihiuhi… is a former principal of Karima Girls High School, remembered for restructuring the school and turning it into an academic giant. Ms Kihiuhi currently runs a children’s home in Murungaru, North Kinagop.
Joseph Kaguthi… a former provincial commissioner who became the boss at National Agency for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (Nacada) upon its inception.
Prophetess Mary Wanjiru… a former Kinagop MP who used to stun her colleagues in Parliament by giving strange messages she claimed were prophetic.
Mukami Kimathi… is the widow of Mau Mau leader Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi and lives in Njabi-ini, South Kinagop.
Joseph Hungu… was PS in the Ministry of Planning and National Development in the 1980s.
