PASS THE BILL AND RESIGN, JIRONGO DARES FELLOW MPS

Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has dared his colleagues to resign once they pass legislation paving way for the disbandment of the Electoral Commission of Kenya.

Mr Jirongo said that the MPs, led by President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga, should stop their hypocrisy and address the pertinent issues surrounding last year’s disputed presidential elections and not divert attention by persecuting innocent ECK staff.

“They have done no wrong in my opinion and those pressing for their dismissal should be ready to quit their positions since the same ECK officials declared them the winners,” Mr Jirongo told his party’s national delegates at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.

He said the two leaders were responsible for the chaos, saying that one clung to power while the other caused mayhem in the streets.

Mr Jirongo, who was elected party chairman, said removing ECK officers was a constitutional issue that risked plunging the country into chaos should any misfortune befall the President in the absence of an electoral body.

During the national delegates conference, Kaddu adopted a new constitution, elected party officials and promised to undertake membership recruitment drives countrywide to strengthen the party ahead of the 2012 polls.

Revolution

Mr Wilbur Ochiel and Mr Amin Walji were elected secretary-general and treasurer, respectively.

Mr Jirongo indicated his intention to contest the presidency in 2012, but said he would announce it formally at a later date.

He warned political leaders against ignoring the plight of the poor, saying that a class revolution was inevitable under the current circumstances.

“The rich cannot sleep because the poor are awake and the poor cannot sleep because they are hungry. Our country’s leadership is making revolution unavoidable,” he warned.

He said the cost of maize flour was just a time bomb waiting to explode.

Aaaah at last it has happened, Jirongo has seen the light. Anyone remembers Sololo outlets/NSSF scam? We believe Jirongo, the leaders have let us down. We will vote for you in 2012. Just return the loot (came to you by accident?)pay your taxes immediately...backdated to since becoming MP, Sell your expensive 4x4s (you can keep 2 cars of less than 2000cc one for you and one for your Mrs) and donate the money to an education/health fund in your constituency then we'll sculpture your name in our hearts and votes.

Another mouthpiece trying to score browny points. Why can't Jirongo go ahead and resign before urging others to do so. He knows in his heart that none of these selfish MPs is going to pay attention to what he is saying. Never trust these Mps for a second. They are adept at sweet talks but completely inept at acting responsibly.

Mr.Jirongo you are wrong.If you employ someone to take care of your sheep and then he lets them wander and get eaten by your own dogs, you don't kill your dogs. You dismiss the employee and get someone who will take care of your sheep. The ECK commissioners are a shame and would have been out long time.

Thank you very much Jirongo. Kibaki and Raila were the main causes of PEV. The two of them failed to agreed on the way forward before all that violence, death and destruction took place?. Two adults entrusted with the welfare of our country and they could not see eye to eye until foreigners made them. And now they have the audacity to kick out ECK.
