Dr Jerome Corsi is in Nairobi to launch his 'Obamanation' book.
Book is critical of Barack Obama, the US Democratic presidential candidate, mostly based on inaccurate charges.

Kenyan immigration authorities are holding American author Jerome Corsi, scuttling plans to launch his 'The Obama Nation' book critical of US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Witnesses say the author was seized by immigration agents and sources have told the Daily Nation is is being held at Nyayo House, Nairobi, the headquarters of the Ministry of Immigration.

A senior immigration official in charge of investigations, Carlos Maluta was quoted by the Associated Press as saying: "We still haven't decided what to do with him."

Dr Jerome Corsi, the author of The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality was set to launch the book at the Laico Hotel, Nairobi.

The book questions Obama’s character and his fitness to run for the White House. It also explores links between the Illinois Senator and Kenya Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The book is largely seen as a smear campaign meant to undermine the Democratic candidate with charges that his criticism of Mr Obama is anchored on inaccuracies.

A Press invite to Tuesday’s launch read in part: “Dr Corsi will also expose details of deep secret ties between US Democratic presidential candidate Barrack Obama and a section of Kenya Government leaders, their connection to certain sectoral groups in Kenya and subsequent plot to be executed in Kenya should Senator Obama win the American presidency.”

Meanwhile, the management of the hotel that Dr Corsi was scheduled to launch his book has distanced itself from a press conference the American was to address.

In a press release, the hotel said: “We would like to assure our business partners and the public at large that Laico Regency Hotel is a law abiding institution and does not condone any smear campaigns. The management cannot allow such activities to take place.”

It revealed that the booking for the news conference had been made by Peter Mbae, the editor-in-chief of the Eagle Christian magazine.

This man Dr Corsi should not be allowed to say anything to any body. He is a known racist whose motives are equitable to those that we experienced during the colonial times. Like Dick Morris, he should be kicked out of the country forthwith!! Kamotho Kimani, Canada.

If what Jerome Corsi is proposing to do is morally right, ethical and can stand to scrutiny, why can't he launch it in his homecountry...where in fact the majority of the voters reside? Or he feels he can use Kenya to sustain the post-colonialism ideologies he is trying to propagate? Well done Kenyan authorities. I hope you ban him from launching this book, and should he try to go against this, you DEPORT him immediately!

Its time to demonstrate the gains of our newly acquired democratic space. Corsi should be given a chance to preach his gospel devoit of such outdated bottlenecks that characterise our dark ages. Let Kenya stand out of the crowd and embrace the principles of democracy. The author has a duty to please his masters and am sure Obama will still sail through regardless of the likes of Corsi and their wild, blatant and selfish interests.

Why give the man publicity by holding him up? Let him in, he has definetely come in with some dollars that he will spend in nairobi and that's good for business.
